Hi All,

Anyone got a set of Compomotive MO Alloys (7X15) that they want to get rid of?

Answers on a postcard please

Cheers,

Tim.

Alloys are now free, meaning you dont have to use compmotive.  I have been told that the Mo's are pretty heavy for what they are, so would look for lighter alternatives.

Dan,

I heard they are free now, but I guess they still have to be motorsport approved? Many of the wheels I've looked at are not!

Anyone have any suggestions on make/model?

Cheers,

Tim.

I'm not sure about the motorsport approval thing.  If you look at a lot of other championships the cars are all running their standard road wheels.  Just look at the Porsche Club Championship for example where for most models standard road wheels are demanded by the regs.

I am currently looking into a cheaper alternative, which although not the pretiest option may prove suitable.  So if you are not in a rush I can let you know my findings.

Quoting the 2004 regs:

"5.12.1 Wheels will be 7" X 15" diameter are free but must be approved for competition use by the manufacturer"

Not sure if this is changed for 2005.

What wheels are you looking into Dan?

Cheers,

Tim.

Hi Justin,

No I haven't yet I'm afraid! Concentrating on getting the important stuff done at the moment, suspension, cage, seats etc..

Has anyone else got any wheel recommendations?

Cheers

Tim.

Hi Tim

I may have a set of Compomotive. They are the correct ones and I think were the original wheels the series started with. The spokes are more angular.

Juts got to confirm things but would want £200 for the 4 ( amy even be some tyres on them !

Hi all - WHEELS  - I spent a lot of time at the autosport show looking and talking about wheels. The general consensus was that there are limited wheels available ( true ) and those that were available were not as light as possibly stated by the manufacturer. The reason behind this ( and you techies can contradict me ) is that the wheel weight increases by the amount of offset( ie the amount of "spacer" required between the wheel and the hub - does that make sense ? )

My summary was that although I found some lighter wheels ( compomotives with the rounded spokes are 7.6kg !! ) they were too expensive.

David,

Definitely interested in your wheels, what's the best time to call you?

Cheers,

Tim.
