Duckman Takes Last Pembery Round

Race 2 was sure to be eventful as I was now lined up behind Will Disdale who had won race 1 after my untimely spin. The plan here was to put as much pressure on Will as possible and try to force a mistake – one I knew he would not make easily as he is an excellent driver.

The start went well and I tucked in behind Will, making many attempts to get my nose in front but always being forced to take the outside line by some first class defending. After only a few laps we had both left the rest of the pack and were locked in a battle, with Will getting his 924 in all the right places to prevent me getting a run on him and making a pass. The backmarkers were allowing Will to gain a slight advantage as he managed to catch them on the straights and I was having to pass them in the corners – this was very frustrating but there was nothing I could do about it so I kept the pressure on him, even though he had gained a few car lengths by now.

About 15 minutes into the race I started to notice things were getting slippery and nearly lost control through the double left hander. Wills car was dropping some fluid – I continued to push him as hard as possible and noticed he was struggling for power on the straights – this allowed me to pass him with ease as he was obviously suffering a mechanical failure, which ended in him retiring with only 1 lap to go.
