Qualifying started badly as I pushed a bit too hard on the 2nd lap and went off onto the grass into the double lefthander, but I collected it up and pushed on hard to get some clear track, eventually being rewarded with pole! - though Phil was only a fraction behind me so the race was sure to be close.
I removed half a field from under my car before the race - I had collected it on my excursion in qualifying!
Race 1 was very wet - I was concerned that somebody would try a late braking run and ram me as we entered the first corner, so I deliberatly braked early to try and slow the pack down - this worked well and I ended up a few car lengths ahead and was able to extend my lead through the race - the rest of it being pretty uneventful as I just concentrated on keeping the car in a straight line in the tricky conditions. I do enjoy driving in the rain though and was rewarded with the win and fastest lap!
Race 2 was dry, so things were bound to be closer as other drivers would push harder now. I used the same tactic as in race 1 to try and slow the pack down into the first corner and I nearly lost the car as I turned in - I then saw Will Penrose in my mirror completely out of shape and only just managing to keep it together, but I think this slowed everybody else a bit and let me get a small lead. I pressed very hard in the first part of the race, but I was running with my wet tyres on the rear - this hard pushing gave me a good lead, but it caused the wet tyres to start losing grip and resulted in some difficult to control slides! - this was also allowing Phil to catch up a bit and I was very aware of this. Unfortunatly for Phil there were not enough laps left and I won the race by a few seconds, though it would not of been easy to overtake if he had caught me anyway! - I also mananged to get fastest lap too, though Phil was once again very close.
All in all a great weekend for me, I also had a video camera in my car for all 3 sessions, but the results are a bit bland as I had nobody in front at all
