Championship favourite emerges

Rounds six and seven of the Porsche 924 Championship took place this weekend at Cadwell Park . The weekend was a success for Will Penrose who made himself favourite for this year's title by winning both races and easing out a clear lead in the points table. He now has 165 points. 8 points clear of Matt Davies in second place.

Will claimed pole position in the morning qualifying and took a lights to flag victory in race one. That meant he also had pole for the second race and then repeated the achievement. In the first race he was hounded all the way to the flag by Matt Davies as has been the case in many of the races this season, but in race two Matt finished fifth, allowing first podium finishes for Steve Brown (2nd) and Matt Upchurch (3rd).

Steve Brown's weekend was particularly remarkable given that he had a fairly good attempt at demolishing a tyre wall during testing the day before and a lot of overnight work was required to make his car raceworthy for Sunday.

There were a number of collisions between cars in race 2, most notably between Graham Heard and Richard Mowbray, whose car was launched six feet into the air by Grahams wheel. He now holds the Porsche 924 altitude record! In fact it was no joking matter. Richard was fortunate the car landed on its wheels rather than its roof.
