Morning all

Lucky me, ive found some Demon Tweeks vouchers, so out comes the laminated book of dreams again!

I am thinking of investing in a lap timer, most seem to consist of a reciever/display and an infra red transmitter sold separatly.

Does anybody know if we need to buy the transmitter? do tracks have these installed anyway? I would imagine the pit wall would be very crowded if we all put transmitters on it, and then how does the timer know when you pass your transmitter.

I guess if it just picks up the 1st one it comes to then you could be cheeky and hope someone else leaves theres on the pit wall?

Cheers

Hi Steve

I have used a Rollcentre lap timer for years No you do not need the beacon. The T200 is £99 + vat direct from them ( http://www.rollcentre.co.uk - www.rollcentre.co.uk ). They overbrand their product for Radical, Demon Tweeks etc. Ensure that you have a spare battery in your tool box as although there is a low battery warning you will miss it as you are not in the car every day....

a further bit of usefull kit is a countdown kitchen timer or similar. You set the duration of the race, on the green flag lap or similar press the tit and it counts down...this shows immedaitely how long there is to go in the race. I would not be without one. Argos 015/0462

a bit more info...trackdays should not have the beacon switched on but quite often they do forget! You therefore may be able to pick up lap times quite "illegally" - take care though as the track day organisers will send you home if you get caught.

I should add that despite me having a timer in my car, I ALWAYS forget to set it at the gree lights and wonder how much longer there is!

Anybody know of an idiot proof automatic version!?!?

How did Pembrey go - nobody has posted anything yet!

welcome back Duckers...

Timers - they are intended to be a guide and not an absolute science. I either set mine going at the 30 sec board for a standing start or set it up with say an extra 30 secs and click it on as we approach the start for rolling starts. We've done three roling starts this year ( and more to come ) - not quite got the hang of them yet!

I'm racing in The Radical World Cup at Silverstone this weekend. The top model of Radical will be there - only £628,000 to buy exc engine and elctronics.....
